Soča Gorge
The Soča River carved through the limestone to make this spectacular 750-metre-long gorge, one of the must-see treasures of the Triglav National Park. Only a few metres wide and 15 metres deep, this magical place is perfect for hiking and even swimming. The latter of course not for the faint of heart, as the temperature reaches the max. of 12 degrees.
The Soča Gorge can be explored on foot. Walking down the gorge’s thematic trail and across its wooden bridges is both a healthy and educational experience that comes highly recommended.
The Soča Gorge is not entirely accessible and only certain sections along the marked forest footpath can be admired from the path. Sightseeing in winter isn’t advisable in certain more exposed sections of the gorge due to slippery and icy areas that can be particularly dangerous. The rest of the year, however, the Soča Gorge should definitely be placed high on your list of hiking destinations.
