Description
Out of 9 distinct wine regions that Slovenia possesses, the Styria region is the largest. Situated around Maribor, the second-largest city in Slovenia, the sunny hills surrounding it are a place of countless vineyards.
You’ll have a chance to explore one of them, visiting both the vineyard and the wine cellar at one of the boutique family-owned wineries. While taking a relaxing walk along the growing grapevine, we will tell you all about the specifics of the Slovenian wine, the soil and the climate — terroir.
After that, we will visit the wine cellars, where one of the expert winemakers will explain their process of making wine, their history and how their tradition began.
Of course, this will be accompanied by a wine tasting and some local cold dishes like cheese and olive oil. Styria is famous for its elegant white wine, which will be introduced to you, along with a selection of other local wines and the peculiarities of the Styria wine region.

It is important to dress for the season. Slovenia has all 4 seasons, so please check the weather forecast before the day trip regarding temperatures and rainfall. When you are close to the Alps, the weather can change fairly quickly, so your best bet is to always bring an extra layer. We recommend shoes you will be comfortable in. If you are visiting caves, please remember that the caves are cold in the summer, as the cave temperature is constant throughout the year.
