Logar Valley Landscape Park

Logar valley is the most picturesque Alpine valley in Slovenia.

The Logar Valley is among the most picturesque Alpine valleys in Europe. Located in the wild Solčava region, this place is tucked away from the rest of the world and has been blessed with peaceful meadows, babbling brooks and fairy-tale views. A single road leads into the valley, lined with the traditional farmsteads and majestic Kamnik-Savinja mountains in the background

A true paradise for hikers, cyclists, mountaineers and nature lovers of every kind, the Logar Valley promises a long list of splendid activities. The most popular among them is hiking to the Rinka waterfall, the highest single-drop in Slovenia. Also warmly recommended is walking the Themed Trail through the valley, ascending the Kamnik Saddle or cycling the panoramic road of Solčava.

An important part of the valley’s cultural heritage are the wooden granaries called ‘kašče’ Used for storing produce, especially grains, some kašče still serve their original purpose to this day. When visiting the Logar Valley, you should certainly try some of the local cuisine, like the ‘sirnek’ (ripened cottage cheese), ‘žlinkrofi’ (sweet dough pockets) and an assortment of homemade bread, potica cakes and jams. In many ways, the Logar Valley represents the very spirit of Slovenian mountain life, both naturally and culturally.
