Organised guided tours are immensely convenient. You do not have to plan your journey yourself. You do not have to worry about keeping track of timetables or checking various pieces of key information that will make your day trip easier. However, you still have to adapt the tour’s schedule and other people in your group, so in that respect, guided tours, especially shorter ones, can feel somewhat restricting. But they certainly do not have to.

Miles of Smiles gives you absolute control of where you want to go, what you want to see, and when. It is basically your customisable day-tour of any part of Slovenia. This is how it works:

Image you want to visit the famous Lake Bled and spend the day sightseeing and enjoying its spellbinding surroundings. But you want to do it on your own terms. Miles of Smiles has a private local guide who doubles as your chauffeur. He or she will drive you to your pre-chosen destination, help you sort out any entries, restaurant reservations and the likes, as well as give you a private guided tour of the place. All you have to do is pick a destination (or multiple ones) and state your wishes a day in advance, so that we can assign the best expert for that particular part of Slovenia.

Since it is a day-long adventure, the services are limited to a maximum of 300 kilometres, and you have up to 10 hours at your disposal. Given Slovenia’s exceptional diversity and extremely short transfer times, you do not have to worry about missing out on anything. Your fully customizable excursion will place any attractions you would like to visit in the palm of your hand, while your private guide supplies you with any information on-the-go. Our guides are passionate travellers with a broad knowledge of Slovenia, so never hesitate to ask anything. Whatever tickles your fancy, we will do our utmost to accommodate your needs. You are always in the best of hands. Let the adventure begin!

Frequently Asked Questions

I am a single traveller, how can I book?

Don’t worry, just drop us a line in our inbox. We will do our best to try and find you some company, so if you are flexible in your travel dates, let us know as well. Do you want a private trip? No problem, we got you covered too.

Where do we meet for the day trip?

Your guide will pick you up at your location in Ljubljana.

Is there lunch at a restaurant or do I have to bring my own?

You have the option of both. We can have a time slot reserved for lunch somewhere with (usually local) restaurants handy. That said, you can always pack your own picnic lunch and eat it wherever and whenever you like. This might sometimes even save time in order to fit a bit of extra sightseeing into your day.

How fit do I need to be for this day trip?

The best thing about our day trips is that they can be tailored to your own level of fitness. Most of the tours are designed with different activities available, so the choice is entirely yours.

Will I have some time to myself?

If you want to, sure! We are well aware that some people love to stay in groups while others prefer some more alone time on their trip. We wanted to give you the opportunity to do things your way. It is your holiday, after all!

What should I wear for Miles of Smiles trip? Do I have to bring anything with me?

It is important to dress for the season. Slovenia has all 4 seasons, so please check the weather forecast before the day trip regarding temperatures and rainfall. When you are close to the Alps, the weather can change fairly quickly, so your best bet is to always bring an extra layer. We recommend shoes you will be comfortable in. If you are visiting caves, please remember that the caves are cold in the summer, as the cave temperature is constant throughout the year.

I have food restrictions. Are there restaurants for me?

It really depends on the level of your restriction. Vegetarian options are fairly easy to find in Slovenia, but vegan dishes, on the other hand, are extremely hard to come by in rural areas of the country and in smaller towns. Please note, that the places where we stop off at for lunch are often traditional and may have difficulties accommodating you outside of their standard menu. We suggest you keep this in mind.
