As you travel from Ljubljana towards the Slovenian coast, you will see the countryside change from a subalpine continental landscape to the Karst and the Mediterranean climate of the northern Adriatic. Arriving in the incredibly picturesque town of Piran, you will already witness the influence of Venetian architecture that adorn its quaint seaside streets. It is there that you will board the speedy catamaran for the famous Italian “Floating City”.
The boat ride takes approximately two hours. Upon entering the Venetian lagoon, a scenic 45-minute route will take you through the canals to San Basil. Before disembarking at San Basilio port in Venice, you will be given the possibility to book a comfortable sailing from the port to St. Mark’s Square that will save you a 40-minute walk to the centre. For those who choose not to book a boat ride, a guide will escort you to the city centre. Upon arrival at St. Mark’s Square, you hear all about the old and new Procuratie, Ala Napoleonica,Belltower, Clock tower, Basilica of St. Marks, Doges Palace, Library and the famous Bridge of Sighs. You will also have plenty of free time to walk to the Rialto Bridge. Departing from Venice we will sail past the city centre and Lido Island and exit the lagoon the same way we came in, then cross the Adriatic back to Piran.
