A visit to Bled cannot pass without venturing into the nearby Vintgar Gorge, the most famous gorge in Slovenia. Carved by the cool Radovna River, it 1.6 km long gorge lies amidst splendid vertical walls and takes you alongside emerald pools and rapids. Scenes you’ll never forget. The trail ends with a 13-m waterfall appropriately names Šum or “the sound water makes”. Vintagr Gorge was impassable until 1893, when 500 m of wooden bridges and galleries were built. Now you can explore this ancient Alpine. The gorge comes especially recommended during summer when it becomes a refuge from the scorching sun.
